Connectivity has never been more important to our daily lives. The range of cables and connectors available, and the variety of devices which require connection, can often be confusing. As more devices come onto the market, so too will the amount of cables and wiring required to power and connect these devices.
What are the different types of cabling?
Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Power over Cable (PoC) allow electrical power to be passed over an Ethernet or other Cable, simultaneously with data transfer. It is common for VoIP or other telephone devices to use PoE, as well as more devices that come onto the market.
Cat5e and Cat6 are both used for broadband connectivity. Both can handle speeds of 1000Mb/s and are sufficient for most internet connections. However they carry different bandwidths allowing CAT6 to process more data.
Audio and Visual equipment can be connected using a variety of wired and wireless means.
